I was baptized in 1980... in 1983 I went to work for Better homes and Gardens real estate...and their SALES training course was nearly identicle to the Theocratic ministy school.... sales training from JWs can have practical applications (^_^)

down on his resume under "education", he includes the theocratic ministry school as part of his education.
this is not the first time i hear someone doing this.

Read the Bible alone for 2 years and you will lose the truth?
by TowerWatch inanyone remember the publication where russell said that if someone read his works for 2 years even without the bible they would learn the truth but if they read the bible without his publications they would lose the correct understanding of the bible in 2 years?
it was something like that, i can?t find it i?m trying to quote it and i?m not sure which watchtower or book it was in, can someone help me.

The catholic's were the first to notice that if you let a 1000 people read the bible you will have 1000 religions... the reason is simple...the bible is only a mirror of who ever is reading it... we all will come away with many things that we see in common as we are all to a degree based on the body systems, similar cultures to a greater extent than differences, etc...but then there are our unique expeirences, our unique perspectives and these too we read into any text, not just the bible....
a thousand virgins reading the kama sutra will not understand it the way a sexually experienced author intends it no matter how smart they are no matter how willing, no matter how desirous... they simply do not have the one thing that the author is seeking to impart and share... experience.
its easy to pretend that we KNOW what the author intended and many are very CONvincing when they give extremely rational sounding interpretations...but ultimately there is no god that we can all appeal to and ask, is this the right view vs that? it all boils down to gut feelings in the end, and when you realize that gut feelings are based on your comparison of the world around you to some inner ideal which you arrived at largely by unconscious means, such as enculturation, religious indoctrination, traditions and brainwashing by peer pressure.

JWs make big deal out of discovering that early versions of the greek septuigent contained the YHWH name for God in hebrew characters...and indicate this is proof that it was removed from the NT...but one thing they overlook... were it not for superstitions already making the name too holy to pronounce and commonly use, it would have been found in greek letters not hebrew.
that they kept it in hebrew letters already indicated that the jews felt the name too sacred for common usage by the time the sep was made.
so the likelihood of the NT writers using it is much less than JWs would wish...indicating that the inventors of the Jesus myth were truly not concerned with the divine name as the hebrew authors apparently were... which of course fits with the theory that the Jesus myth was just a rework of many older pagan myths put together by gnostic greek/jews of the time...not inspired by the OT god as advertized.

several times while I was preaching to people and seeing some progress in their eyes, I felt that I was telling them a cartoon rather than reality...and these nagging doubts were never told to them.... why? because I could be wrong and I did not want my doubts to effect their chance at finding "the truth"... I suspect that many are just as conflicted and confused while being a JW, including the GB.
there were times, many, which I felt that I would never make it...but if my life could be "USED" by God to save another it would still be worth the efforts... guilt is a strange and wonderful cure for happiness ...but pushes at you just the same.
as to blame... blame can only exist if there are real alternatives to reality...which of course there is not.
no one, not even a god has been given this power... no one can alter a single step that lead to the present moment....and its always the present moment...
the last event prior to this event happened about 10E-23 seconds ago...faster then any known ability to alter... according to many studies conducted since the 1960s, it takes 3/10th of a second for us to be conscious of what is going on around us... so reality is long gone when we become aware of it...and have no ability to alter what already took place... our reactions are largely reflexive and part of a great chain of internal events over which we have but the illusion of control.

Is there proof of Evolution out there? help needed
by trumangirl ini've faded, but i still would like to have faith in a creator/god.
but i am really not sure if my belief in god is the result of being brought up a jw and being stuck with a particular world-view.
the best thing i can do is challenge myself by reading some material that explains proof of the evolution, but i have not seen anything that does this yet, i've only seen explanations of the theory, not the proof.

creationists use odds a lot....
but what are the odds that a god existed who could make things without any knowledge whatso ever outside of what he eternally possessed as his true nature? a god who was all alone in the beginning with no one and nothing to learn from.... seems like trail and error, or evolution had to happen on some level at some time... magical mystery gods who can just speak reality into being are the stuff of fables not reality.

it seems that many are placing far too much importance on the JWs all of us are ex- just about everything we are not currently...
we all change we all go through many experiences, we all grow and alter relationships....
this realm is often a game of liars poker and often the best liars and cheats go far... JWs seem to be just a moderately successful con game which some of us fell for, some of us were born into and some of us joined because we were con artist our selves.... it is said you cannot cheat an honest man... and perhaps there is some truth to that.... many of us seek something other than truth.

I may call myself a former member of the borg or even an ex JW to some, but I do not think of myself as such.
to me all that exists is part of me and still is...even the insane parts such as WTBS...
I consider myself to have reached the eye of the storm while JWs are still part of the storm....
It is my hope that all find the eye and eventually the storm will vanish... or is it? part of me thinks that the storm is the reason why this realm exists and that maybe complete contentment is not the best of all possible worlds... who knows?
